HOW TO MAKE FONDANT PANSIES
In this tutorial I will show you how to make fondant pansies to use on cupcakes or cakes.
ITEMS YOU WILL NEED
Knead the fondant you are using for your petals until soft and pliable then rollout until it is about 1/2mm thick. Cut out 2 small petals, 2 medium petals and 1 large petal.
Using the petal mould, place each petal into the mould and gently press down and imprint on the petals. Then using the ball tool gently run around the edge of each petal and gently soften the edges and give them a slight frill.
Place a small ball of fondant into the centre of the flower former. Take the 2 small petals and glue next to each other on the centre of the ball of fondant as per the 2nd photo below. Then glue the 2 medium petals onto the ball – one to the left and one to the right of the small petals as per the 3rd photo below.
Glue the large petal into place and then create a small indent into the centre of the pansy with the flat end of the veining tool as per photo’s 4 and 5 below.
Mix up a small amount of black dust with some vodka and paint veins onto the petal. I referred to pictures on the intranet to give me an idea on how I wanted the flower to look.
Knead a small amount of yellow fondant and roll into a thin sausage shape about 1.5 cm long. Form into a loop and glue into the indented section on the large pansy leaf as per the 3rd photo below.
Knead a small amount of white fondant and roll into a thin sausage shape about 1.5 cm long. Form into a V shape and glue above the yellow loop on the large pansy leaf as per the 3rd photo below.
Allow your pansy to dry.
